HSBC TreeTop Walk
Esther itches for a 'healthy walk'. Alison insists on a getogether. Since we had already 'conquered' the Southern Ridges, this will be our next target! Who's coming along?

The Perfect Roll
With a fine balance of strength and skill, Iron Chef Chen Kenichi shows awestruck bystanders how to roll out a perfectly round pancake. And if you dare make any snide remarks about his hairnet, he won't hesitate to beat you silly with his ugly stick.

"Pet Rules the World"?
Shouldn't it be "Pets Rule the World", instead? Never mind the insignificant article of speech, but the language's also a bit off, isn't it? Shall we ask Shiling 'cher to help confirm it? In any case, pets do rule the world!

Baked Fresh
Awesome Kong has just won the 2010 World Lao Kao Snooker Championship and walked away with a monkey year's supply of freshly baked, banana-flavored NYC bagels straight from the factory! Woo, woo, woo, woo...

Eager Beaver
This is where yours truly passes by every morning after alighting at the Bukit Merah Bus Interchange. Thought it's a very appropriate name for a preschool - teaching little 'beavers' to be eager for knowledge and, erm, attention?

What's nex?
The newest and largest shopping mall in northeastern Singapore (at 23 Serangoon Central), nex is "at the epicentre of an integrated transport hub that links the new 16-bay Serangoon Bus Interchange and the stations of the new Serangoon Circle line and existing Serangoon North East line".
So it's highly accessible by public transport, it seems. But is it 'shoppable'? Shall find out today!

Gone Wireless
As much as I've got loads to gripe about SingNet for messing up my Internet connection (and 'murdering my stingray'), I owe their Duty Manager Mr. Loges a BIG favor for patiently guiding me through the hassle-free 2Wire setup process. Have mio Box, can surf (wirelessly)!

The Medicine Man
Respected sensei, what's that bowl of red paste you're holding? Can it help cure my current bout of (suspected) food poisoning? This diarrhoea, abdominal pain and feeling of nausea is killing me. I really need fast, effective relief and will even consider acupuncture if you perform it.

Gobbledy Gooker
In what must be one of pro-rasslin's worst and most malu + CMI gimmicks ever, the Gobbledy Gooker finally 'hatched' from an oversized egg (following months of anticipation) at the 1990 edition of Survivor Series and was immediately greeted with loud boos from the entire Hartford Civic Center. What were you thinking, Hector Guerrero?

More (& More) NDF
The last two times I dropped by Funan DigitaLife Mall I devoured niang dou fu like nobody's business. The (same?) stall lady couldn't believe her myopic eyes when I asked to have my originally clear (yellow bean) soup spiced way up to the point of tom-yum-goongness! Woo! That's the way, uh-huh uh-huh, I like it :-D

Wild Man
A rose is a rose by any other name; the same goes for an 'ape' - or, more accurately, bipedal humanoid covered in dense fur. It's called Yeti in Asia, Mapinguari in the Amazon, Yowie in Australia and Sasquatch in America. The Chinese call it 野 人, but we all know Bigfoot and the Abominable Snowman are one and the same.

Gip Act Chain 2
Had our company's pre-Christmas buffet dinner/gathering at Furama City Centre's Tiffany Café & Restaurant. Nice ambience, great food (chocolate fondue)! For my first ever gift exchange exercise in SAP, I received a $20 TANGS shopping voucher from Ms. Jane Lim (which was $5 over-budget)! Muchas gracias!

TQ, MEQ!
Finalmente, after close to a month of stuffiness, sweatiness and smelliness, my body's getting re-acclimatized back to the cool air conditioning that it was once so used to. Thank you, Management and workmen from Mitsubishi Electric!

Eat a Bowl of Tea
After the Justice of the Peace (JP) did her thang, all of us adjourned to the nearby Grassroots' Club to partake in a sumptuous nine-course sit-down lunch at the Imperial Court Shark's Fin Restaurant. The cold dish combination platter has always been one of my favvies, and it always helps, as well, when there's refillable Chinese tea served :-D

Boogeese
Rentals for pushcarts like these (seen here at the bustling Bugis Junction) don't come cheap. And since the knickknacks they sell aren't too expensive, either, one then wonders how they can break even - or can't they? Should we forward this question to self-starter Jimmy 'Suntec' Chia?

Warisan Merdeka
When Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak announced lofty plans to erect a 100-storey megastructure called the Warisan Merdeka in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur, which will dwarf the existing Petronas Twin Towers (and many more skyscrapers around the world), local citizens didn't exactly embrace the move as a surefire symbol/testament of their country's economic strength. On the contrary, they protested and even petitioned to have the RM5 billlion proposition canceled. So, will it still break ground and take off?

Trippit!
Plentya block parties taking place this joyous month, counting down to Christmas and then to New Year. But just when Mr. Itchy Hands is confident he can get lucky and pull off a copycat ZoukOut transgression, OUT goes the lights in a Knucklehead Moment - leaving him more shell-shocked than his would-be victims.

BREAKOUT
Every end of the year (barring any programming overhaul), loyal Channel 8 viewers can expect yet another 'beefy' (read: overbearing) Jeanette Aw-Dai Yang Tian blockbuster (*yawn*). Bethink THE LITTLE NYONYA in '08 and TOGETHER in '09. This must be LucasCorp's insistent idea of a 'golden pairing' at the moment. And we certainly hope the title doesn't point to Elvin Ng's pimple.

Joanne Yang
I'm only hazarding a guess here, but I don't fink anyone has any remembrance of this fresh-faced young actress from 2008's CAPE NO. 7, where she played Dada the 10-year-old child prodigy who became the protagonistic band's keyboardist?

Beautiful Sunday
Have been missing one too many such free performances staged at the Esplanade Concert Hall once every month (on a Sunday at 3 p.m.). Missed the bag checking by security; the two rounds of queuing; the free seating; the waiting (for the show to begin punctually); the jamming of phone signals; the kan cheong ushers who try to stop some folks from photo-taking; the latecomers who get an aerial view from their 2nd-, 3rd-, even 4th-level circle seats; the bilingual host who tirelessly repeats the same housekeeping rules month in, month out; the orchestra and the conductor; the melodious music pieces; the fervent clapping of the audience; the snoring of a few disinterested neighbors. Wow, what a long post!

WHAT'S PASSATA? DOES IT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH PASTA? NO, APPARENTLY. PASSATA DI POMODORO IS ITALIAN FOR TOMATO PURÉE, A TYPE OF PROCESSED TOMATO 'SAUCE/PASTE' USED IN SOUPS AND STEWS. HOW ABOUT A GENEROUS HELPING OF IT?

The Forgotten Years
How many of us had lived in shophouses with noisy '72 tenants' inside and narrow five foot ways below? Meals then consisted of simple home-cooked dishes and were taken together as a whole family. The only 'exposure' to showbiz was through magazines bearing faces of movie stars since television sets were luxury items. And the kitchens...well, let's not even go there.
