whiskas

While Jerry (look at him on the box!) was never a fan of Whiskas' 'poc-KETS' (as mom always likes to stress), Hogan and Mandy are. They obviously enjoy the taurine, omega oil, calcium and phosphorus that come with every (pungent) salmon pocket. Cats, of all pets, should know what's good for them!

Let the Rallies Begin

In what's deemed as the most hotly contested General Election in Singapore's history, the incumbent PAP is strongly challenged/opposed on all sides - in all wards save for one - by as many as 6 different political parties. The rallies have begun islandwide and more people flock to them than to getais. Should be a very rousing experience.

Funtastic!

The youths in Marine Parade can now be represented by either of two opposing candidates - Rina Tin Pei Ling from the PAP and Nicole Rebecca Seah from the NSP - vying for a seat in the Parliament. We'll be surprised if their personal manifestos make no references to makeup and mascara.

WWE Draft

Smackdown! superstar Edge's premature retirement prompted the WWE to hold their annual draft lottery earlier than usual. Viewers of Raw would've known the results (i.e. various trades) by now. Only question is: Which brand will the debuting Kharma (FKA Awesome Kong) end up on?

It was a perfectly fine afternoon for a game of basketball, but - as one can see - there wasn't a single soul on the newly rubberized court. Are residents of Kim Seng well aware of the fact that they'll never Kobe Bryant or LeBron James?

Cathy Nguyen

With more than 3 million YouTube views in 3 days, Wong Fu Production's 16-minute short STRANGERS, AGAIN - a meaningful essay on the various stages of a love relationship - has made quite an online celebrity out of 23-year-old lead actress Cathy Nguyen, who is Vietnamese-American with "a bit of French and Thai". You can see her in some of WFP's older videos or visit her music channel here.

Kim Lan Temple

Came across this small Taoist temple tucked away at 119A Kim Tian Road during one of my 'gallivanting explorations' around the environs over the weekend. Didn't step inside nor take any photos of the shrine as a sign of respect and reverence for the deities. (In verity, it's more like I have no idea what to write about.)

Strolled over to Telok Blangah with my dearest lunch kakis Chrismomma and Babymei to sumple (read: British pronunciation of 'sample') the vegetarian noodles there for the first time. While the chow mein itself was nothing too special, there are two different types of fried tofu skin - which, in my opinion, was the best part of the whole meal!

Here We Go Again

Well, whaddya know? It's that time of the year for MediaCorp artistes to revel in another self-congratulating gaiety that no one else except the 'insiders' themselves care about. The widely watched shindig will again emanate from Resorts World Sentosa's Compass Ballroom underneath the Hard Rock Hotel and 'stars' will be ambling down the red carpet from 5.30 p.m. onwards. Can't wait!

Going Home

Okay, this is actually not my usual route back home from the office (since I take another short-cut from the back of the building), but Henderson Road is where I walk along when I need to take the bus on Wednesday evenings. And sometimes I'll run into Songqiang's gang of 'warehousers'.

Sex Education

Was recently recommended this video clip filmed in supposedly one of Malaysia's 'backwater' primary schools, in which an unseen (but clearly heard) 'teacher' was addressing and 'educating' a large congregation of pubescent children about sex during an assembly. Apart from the distinctive 'Federation accent' that the 'teacher' was sporting (which was already a distraction), the speaker also slammed promiscuity in such a manner that was more debauched than the depravity itself. I pity those poor poisoned minds.

Empire State Building

New York City has her share of beauteously structured/ architectured skycrapers, but none is more breathtaking than the 80-year-old Empire State Building. It's been scaled by King Kong and blown to smithereens by an alien mothership in the movies, but still stands tall today. If I have a chance to visit the Big Apple, I'll be sure to stop by this 102-storey historic landmark :-)

She may be unfazed by flak, but the People's Action Party's youngest candidate at this coming General Election has certainly got her work cut out for her. From her age (barely 28) to her lifestyle (splurging on a Kate Spade bag) to her apparent coquette (read: 'acting cute'), Ms. Tin, whom I feel is quite the looker, had better not let her 'tongue-in-cheek' Senior Minister down at any cost.
