Rolls-Royce

What seems to be missing from this picture? That's right, envious peeps, the 'Spirit of Ecstasy' emblem/ mascot/ whatever-you-call-it hood ornament that comes with every Rolls-Royce car. What happened to Emily? The wind blew her away?

Indoor Tanning

What do they use for indoor tanning? Ultraviolet light? What do you do inside the coffin...pardon me, tanning bed? Meditate? Call me a chicken, but I find this stuff all too scary. Maybe it's because I saw FINAL DESTINATION (forgot which installment), but getting trapped inside one of these confined spaces isn't the least funny. Why don't we just head out to the beach, instead??

Furniture Mall

'Cept for its inaccessible locale along Beach Road, there's much to like about the Furniture Mall. On beds and matresses alone, the variety is overwhelming. There's Four Stars, Getha, King Koil, Simmons, Sweet Dreams, and many others. Spoilt for choice!

Insomnia

What's keeping you up at/all night? Stress? Caffeine? Bogeyman? How can we ensure peaceful, uninterrupted sleep? Does counting sheep help? How about drinking warm milk? Or doing light exercises on your bed? Or reading a really 'heavy' book like Hard Truths to Keep Singapore Going by MM Lee?

uDivine

OSIM Founder/Chairman/CEO Ron Sim Chye Hock is evidently one class act with an enormous clout. Not only has his company gone international, it also never fails to engage big-name celebrities to anchor its latest commodities. First, there was S.H.E for uKimono, then Lin Chi-ling for uSoffa Petit, and now Andy Lau for uDivine ("Massage fit for a King"). Sigh, if only I could afford a set (for) myself...

Ear Candling

Has anybody attempted this alternative form of medicine that purportedly originated from the indigenous Hopi tribe in Native America? AKA thermal-auricular therapy, it's claimed that the flame from the lit end of the cloth cone/cylinder creates negative pressure, thereby drawing wax and debris out of the ear canal, which appears as a dark residue. Fact or myth? You decide.

Would You Wear This?

Are the Spaniards outta their minds? First, the World Cup. Now, spray-on clothing? Unheard of. And, frankly, the fabric's a tad skin-tight for comfort!

Welcome to Day One of Tekan Boot Camp: Hell Week. This morning, you will do circuit training in the order of the diagram4. Following that, you will do your SOC and IPPT back-to-back. And suppose you can survive all that, we will double the dose tomorrow. Enjoy your stay!

The Rub-down

"In Javanese massage, pushing and stroking techniques predominate, working to ease muscle and joint pain. It relies upon deep thumb pressures pushing, pressing and circling along and around the body's energy meridians to break down tensely knotted muscles and to stimulate the body's lymphatic system into releasing its self-regenerative power." Sounds painful…

Yoga

I've been receiving so many phone calls (which I refer to as 'prank calls') asking me to join this fitness club and that yoga class. First of all, I don't know where they got my number from. But I have to admit, they're good. (And they're usually Filipinos.) My question is, how different is yoga from, say, pilates? I'm sure it's like comparing apples and oranges, but let's just say - for argument's sake - that I'm stupid...

Play Some Tennis

Here are the ground rules: First, you learn, practise and master the forehand and backhand, then you get to scold an umpire and smash a racket like the prima donna John McEnroe. Kapish?

At present still a largely and relatively undeveloped neighborhood in the northeastern end of Singapore, the plot has been earmarked by the government for evolvement into an exciting residential new town with waterfront living. GRC MPs should start working on it soon!

Cosmetic Surgery

Or plastic surgery, as it's more commonly referred to. Read a recent report regarding this Chinese woman who wanted desperately to go under the knife so that she could look like Jessica Alba and with hopes that her ex-boyfriend - an Alba infatuator - would reconcile with her. The extremes people will go to for a makeover!

ION Orchard

Months of hullabaloo from Hougang to Tiong Bahru (it's not intended to mean anything) didn't materialize into much hoopla or balooza when CapitaLand's multi-billion ION Orchard officially opened its doors to the public late yesterday morning. Last heard, there are some parking problems to boot in spite of 650 lots. Unbelievable, huh?

Ed: Managed to take a sneak peek inside the 'coffin' and, boy, was I bowled over big time! Reckon it'll take a casual shopper half a day (or more) to completely cover this megamall.

The Pinnacle@Duxton

Upon its completion in the 4th quarter of this year, the 2.5-hectare residential complex along Cantonment Road will be the tallest public housing project in Singapore yet. At 50 storeys, insomniacs can even catch a panoramic view of Keppel Shipyard and count cargo containers should they have problem sleeping at night.
