THE FLINTSTONES

The Flintstone family never fails to amuse me. Albeit not a fan of this old-time Hanna-Barbera cartoon series, I always get a kick out of watching the denizens of Bedrock 'power' their cars using their own feet.

Toy Cars

What's with tykes and toy cars? I vividly recall pestering mom to buy them for me from OG @ People's Park, but she simply wouldn't. (Okay, so she relented at times, but not awfully often.) How about those Mirco Machines from Galoob and that guy with the 1,000-words-per-minute rattling speed?

Prone (to) Reading

We're somewhat confused here: Is Harris' goal "igniting your passion for reading" or "encouraging you to treat our bookstore as your own house"?

Twin Bears

Bear 1: I can't bear this anymore...
Bear 2: Can't bear what?
Bear 1: Being stuck to you forever.
Bear 2: What're you talking about? We're IVF twins.
Bear 1: IVF, not conjoined.

Bear 2: So?
Bear 1: I'm starting to lose my bearings...

Bear 2: Barely. Just grin and bear it.

Mr. Postie

Got a letter or greeting card to mail to grandma and grandpa overseas? Use a good courier service. But if you have something to send around the neighborhood, then you can call upon 'Mr. Postie' Sam Krantz from the Toytown Post. He's fast, efficient and does parcels, too!

Do You Have Any CLUE?

This is how deprived my childhood was: I'd never before played Cluedo, the whodunit board game by Waddingtons/Parker Brothers that makes gumshoes out of ginnahs. So, for those who have, can you tell me who overturned the blackcurrant jam in the kitchen?

Cart 2 Cart

A couple of children's play cars parked outside an apartment unit in Boon Tiong. One can freely surmise that this particular household has (1) a set of identical twins; (2) two tots of ages not more than 2 years apart; (3) a covetous cub who craves for more and more toys because s/he's getting less and less love.

Sulky Boi

Simply because mommy refused to buy him kid-sized Vibram® FiveFingers® for school. And since acting like a spoilt brat by sulking away won't help, Ah Boi here will have to content with his regular pair of white canvas Bata footwear. Bo bian.

The Wizard of Oz - The Board Game

Betcha didn't know there's a family board game version of this 1939 MGM classic, huh? Me neither. There's Dorothy, Cowardly Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow - and even a Yellow Brick Road to boot! For ages 6 and above, whether or not you're staying in Kansas. Printed in three-strip Technicolor. Roll the dice!

THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS

Mole, Ratty, Mr. Toad and Mr. Badger are few of the memorable denizens residing along Riverbank, "a mythical location somewhere in Berkshire". Do my same-age peers still remember this faithful stop-motion adaptation of Kenneth Grahame's classic children's literature? I doubt so...

Lôôk Behind

You know how horror movies are usually framed - tight, with nary an extra inch of screen to see beyond what you're supposed to see (yet plenty of room left for imagination). Either that, or there's an inordinate amount of space (so much until the entire image composition is lopsided) - making the viewer suspect someone/something is 'lurking' behind the subject.
