Star Showcase 1: Karena Lam

As with Singapore's homerunner Megan Tay, Canadian-born Hong Kong starlet Karena Lam also struck Golden Horse gold on her first attempt at acting - winning not one but two trophies, namely for Best Newcomer and Best Supporting Actress, for her breakthrough performance as a lolita schoolgirl in Ann Hui's moody melodrama JULY RHAPSODY.

Exuding both girlish charm and womanly allure at the same time, it's no surprise that this 27-year-old leng lui has managed to endear herself to the prickly H.K. media (which, if you know, is anything but a walk in the park) in addition to melting many a (male) heart, including my own :-)
