Foosball

As unbelievably out-of-this-world as it sounds, table football (or foosball in the U.S.) wasn't invented by our FRIENDS Joey and Chandler (who may, in that regard, be credited for popularizing it). According to Wiki, the table-top game based on football (soccer) was the 'eureka effect' of one Alejandro Finisterre, a poet-cum-editor from Galicia, Spain. Apparently, Finisterre was injured in one of the fascist bombings of Madrid during the Spanish Civil War. Seeing many children incapacitated like himself (i.e. unable to play football out in the fields), he thought of the idea, which was born from the concept of table tennis. The next question would, then, be: Has anyone actually thought of holding a similar World Cup-style tournament for foosball??

Wow, I'm constantly amazed at the coincidences that I encounter at people's blogs. I guess when you read so many, some events are bound to occur in common.

Anyway a friend just bought a foosball table and got it yesterday. We were playing all day yesterday and looked like crazy people shouting and spinning the rods like mad.
