Namie Amuro

It's hard to imagine someone under the Big-Three-O who's spearheaded the Japanese music industry for the past 14 years. The name Namie Amuro is as much a myth as it is a legacy befitting J-Pop royalty.
Born in the Okinawa Prefecture, Amuro made her foray into music at the age of 15, forming the teen act Super Monkeys with a group of her classmates.
In 1996, she became the youngest performer in history to receive the Japan Record Awards Committee's Best Artist Prize.
A year later, she held a press conference announcing her marriage to TRF member, Masaharu Maruyama, and her pregnancy.
On May 19, 1998, she gave birth to her only child, Haruto.
The rest, as they say, is history.
