THE EXORCIST
5"The power of Christ compels you!": Father Merrin (von Sydow) and Father Karras (Stacy Keach) confront - namely - a levitating young Regan (Linda Blair), Satan, and their own Faith in one of cinema's most influential horror offerings.
William Peter Blatty's THE EXORCIST, a film directed by William Friedkin and starring Max von Sydow, has been hailed by the West as the most harrowing motion picture experience. Ever.
I saw it as a kid. Scared the shit out of me. Watching it again, now, I don't find the movie all that frightening anymore. Disturbing is more like it. After all, a 12-year-old girl spewing goo (along with ungodly expletives) and doing the 'spider walk' is not something we see every day. Right?
