NANG NAK
There is no Thai who does not know of Mae Nak. Her tragic tale has been depicted in numerous films (the most famous of which was Nonzee Nimibutr's NANG NAK) and even a stage opera, and there is also a shrine dedicated to her at On Nut, Sukhumvit Soi 77, Bangkok.
5While her husband Mak is sent to fight in a war, a pregnant Nak dies in childbirth. The villagers are afraid to tell him when he returns...

5When Mak finally learns of Nak's fate, he flees to the temple. Alas, a circle of sermon chanting monks cannot keep him safe from Nak's relentless spirit...
