Plesiosaur?

This giant, decomposing carcass was fished out of the New Zealand waters by the Japanese trawler Zuiyo Maru on April 25, 1977. While Japanese scientists were convinced it belonged to a prehistoric plesiosaur (hurrah!), analysis later indicated it was most likely the remains of a basking shark. KNN.
